A perfect 4-day trip to Nantucket (Pt.2)
The Perfect summer trip is a trip to Nantucket, New England, and should be put at the top of everyone’s travel bucket list. If you love hydrangeas, then the best time to see them in full bloom is the last week of June to Mid July.
We wanted to do a little sailing before we left Nantucket. We were told to walk down to where the ferry takes off and look for Sail with Endeavor or look for Captain James (they said it’s not hard to find him). He runs the longest-operating sailing charter on Nantucket Island. We went on a 1.5 hour afternoon sail, and we were able to view Brant Point Lighthouse and learned about the island's whaling history. (Photo credit Endeavor website)
Hydrangea + Beach Day
Is it really a summer vacation without a day at the beach? The answer is absolutely NOT! I had a few ideas planned for the ultimate beach day. So first, we hopped on our bikes to see the “ hydrangea house”…I don’t think that is an official name. It’s a home 500 ft away from the entrance to Steps Beach. This house has the best Hydrangeas in Nantucket. Unfortunately, the winter of 2023 had a late frost and the hydrangeas did not bloom, so I was unable to see this famous house.
When we arrived to Steps Beach around 11 am it was completely empty, it felt like a dream. Beforehand, we stopped off at Something Natural to get beach picnic food. Be warned, the sandwiches are huge! You may opt for a half instead of a whole depending on hunger. I enjoyed half of my sandwich before a seagull stole it and flew off.
If you are looking for the perfect night cap check out The Gaslight for the champagne vending machine. you get a token from the bartender and pick your baby size bottle of bubbles.
I have loved sharing our trip to Nantucket with you. Feel free to leave me a comment with any questions. I hope you book this beautiful island for your next vacation!
